DELTA COUNTY -- Any first responder in Delta County, Harris Township Fire Department, or the Hannahville Police Department is invited to a free dinner at the Terrace Bay Inn on March 22.
It's the first time an event like this has been put on by Delta Lodge 195, the local lodge of Masons. Event chair Chris Germain is also a volunteer firefighter, and he says being a first responder is often a thankless job.
About 40 people have registered so far. The free event will also include door prizes like handmade knives, and restaurant and movie passes.
"I think that a lot of times, the departments like police officers, firefighters, EMS, they don't get a chance to sit together," said Germain. "So it's going to be great to have everybody down at this event to get a chance to relax, enjoy the event, and have a free meal on the Delta Lodge of Masons."
Germain is asking anyone who wants to attend to please text or call him by noon on Thursday. The social hour starts at 5 p.m. and dinner will be at 6 p.m.
