ESCANABA -- A 20-year-old Escanaba man arrested in connection with a home invasion and felonious assault of a Bark River man was sentenced on Monday in Delta County Circuit Court.

Michael Scott Jones was sentenced to serve 11 months in the Delta County Correctional Facility, with credit given for 111 days already served. He also received 18 months probation.

He was originally charged with one count of conspiracy to larceny from the victim, felonious assault, home invasion first degree, and home invasion third degree. On January 24, Jones pled guilty to home invasion third degree.

The other counts were dismissed. On October 22, 2011 Jones and two Escanaba women allegedly made plans to break into the victim's home, beat him up, and steal his money.

"Mr. Jones, your actions on October 22, 2011, and your record you've developed in 20 years compels this court to give you the maximum permissible sentence," said Judge Stephen Davis. "So it shall be done."

Jones declined the opportunity to say anything on his behalf.
