MANISTIQUE -- Many families swarmed Manistique Saturday to watch snowmobiles catch some air.

The two-day event is the only professional snowcross circuit held in the Upper Peninsula by Michigan Xtreme Racing (MXR).

Competitors come from as far as Indiana and Ohio for the race. Over 75 racers, ages four to 50, came anxious to ride.

"The bigger kids that are hitting hard will get anywhere from 10 to 15 feet in the air," said race director Tom Gouin.

If you didn't make it down there Saturday, races continue Sunday at 9 a.m. sharp.

Organizers say the event is very family-oriented for both spectators and competitors and encourage everyone to come out.
