MARQUETTE -- Pucks were flying in Marquette for a traditional youth hockey tournament.

Friday marked the first day of the 28th Annual Marquette Mite Hockey Tournament at Lakeview Arena.

The event started in 1986 as a fun way to end the hockey season.

Over a dozen teams are competing in the three day tournament -- all players are eight and under.

The games are half ice and will consist of three 16-minute time periods.

Saturday's matches run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The tournament wraps up with the championship game on Sunday at 1 p.m.
