ISHPEMING -- You remember the green eggs and ham story...well, Saturday is Dr. Seuss' birthday. If he were alive today, he'd be 109!

Students at Birchview Elementary School decided to celebrate the author's birthday a day early.

The students read Dr. Seuss' timeless books, participated in various Seuss-related activities, and even had a parade in his honor.

Ishpeming Middle School students went to the elementary school as well to help celebrate by singing well-known Dr. Seuss songs.

"I love singing happy birthday to Dr. Seuss," said Birchview student Abbi Bruhnke.

Birchview student Julien Herman said, "I liked when we went to have the parade 'cause we dressed up in hats and went to the assembly."

"I liked all of it because it was fun," said Birchview student Hayden Hares.

Dr. Seuss published 46 books in his lifetime, which were often characterized by imaginative characters and rhyme.
