ESCANABA -- Thanks to a new law in Michigan, 9th through 12th graders can now take dual enrollment classes.

Previously, dual enrollment was only open to 11th and 12th graders.

This winter semester, there are over 150 high school students enrolled in campus or online dual enrollment classes at Bay College.  If the students meet state criteria, based on ACT scores, their high school will actually cover the fees and tuition for these college-level courses.

"This does begin their college transcript.  This does begin their college record.  So, we want to make sure we're setting the student up to be successful and have a great experience while they dual enroll," said Bay Director of Admissions, Cindy Carter.

Carter says dual enrollment is a valuable college experience for these high schoolers.
