Michigan Tech provided parents and daughters an opportunity to see for themselves

HOUGHTON -- Saturday was Parent-Daughter Engineering Exploration Day. Those who attended chose two of four experiments to get a better glimpse of the field.

Less than 20 percent of employed engineers are women, and this event aims to show girls that engineering isn't just a man’s world.

"I saw this on TV6's website and thought it would be good for Abby to learn about the aspects of engineering," explained mother Paula Domitrovich.

Her daughter, Abby, said at first she "didn't really wanna come," but once arriving, her frown was turned upside down.

"It’s really cool and interesting," admited Abby.

The event was part of Michigan Tech's National Engineers Week.
