SANDS TOWNSHIP -- More snow made for slick driving conditions Friday night. A layer of wet, heavy snow on M-553 in Sands Township was likely a factor in a four vehicle accident just before 6 p.m.

The Marquette County Sheriff's office says the accident happened north of Station Road on M-533. According to police, a pickup was preparing to turn into the 553 Mobile Estates from the southbound lane when a sedan, also traveling south, rear-ended the pickup.

The driver of the sedan was unable to stop before hitting the pickup. Inside the sedan was a dog that sustained an injury. The dog was treated at the scene. Police say other cars went into the ditch trying to avoid the accident.

It had traffic backed up for about 40 minutes. Police say there were no serious injuries.
