HOUGHTON -- Michigan Tech is hosting a "Parent-Daughter Engineering Day" and registration closes Monday. The event is open to girls from seventh grade to eleventh grade from all across the Upper Peninsula.

Girls will participate in different activities in biomedical engineering, environmental engineering, and electrical engineering.

Women in engineering at Tech hope the event will spark young girls' interest in math and science. They say engineering isn't just for the men, but that women can enjoy it, too.

"I enjoy engineering because I really enjoy the problem-solving aspect. You always feel like you're making a difference and that you can help people. I think that's really important to show women of that age group also that they can make a difference in engineering," said Jennifer Fuller, grad. student.

The event will be Saturday, February 23 in the Great Lakes Research Center at 9:30 a.m.
