ISHPEMING TOWNSHIP -- It doesn't look like prom season outside, but collections for a prom dress resale kicked off on Wednesday in Ishpeming Township.

The NICE Community Schools Child and Family Resource Center is sponsoring their fourth annual sale. People can drop off their used dresses on weekdays before February 15 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Westwood High School or Aspen Ridge School.

All dresses must be $200 or less. The sale promotes the mission of the Child and Family Resource Center.

"We want all our children to learn and be at the top of their game and in order for that to happen, our families have to feel safe, they have to meet their economical needs," said Donna Ballweber of NICE Community Schools. "Anywhere we can help them out, that's where we are."

The sale takes place Saturday, February 16 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Westwood High School. Twenty percent of the proceeds from each dress will go to the family resource center, with the rest going to the seller. In past years, girls from as far away as Houghton and Manistique have come to pick out dresses.
