BESSEMER -- A 77-year-old Bessemer woman pulled in front of a patrol car Saturday morning.

Troopers from the Wakefield State Police Post were called to the scene of the accident. It happened around 11:26 a.m.

Police say there was a large snow bank along the highway when Mary Strelcheck stopped at the stop sign on Peck Street at the US-2 intersection in Bessemer. She was making a left turn and could not see any oncoming traffic.

Strelcheck pulled out in front of a Gogebic County Sheriff patrol car driven by Deputy Webber. Officials say Webber took evasive action to avoid the crash but was unable to do so.

Deputy Webber was transported to Aspirus Grand View Hospital and treated for unknown injuries and was then released.

Strelcheck sought her own treatment.
