ESCANABA -- A 19-year-old Escanaba man accused of robbing the Admiral Gas Station in Escanaba at knifepoint on January 20 had his preliminary examination Thursday in Delta County District Court.

Marc Allen Grove is charged with armed robbery and possession of an analog.  The gas station clerk testified that she has since left her job there because "she felt that her safety and life were threatened."

The next witness was the manager of the Admiral, who testified that $260 was taken.

Police Lieutenant Marc Zawacki of the Escanaba Public Safety Department explained how they tracked the suspects to a home.

"These particular impressions had a checkered board or small square pattern on them; predominantly on the heel is where the squares were," said Zawacki.

Grove's co-defendant, Courtney Marie Gartland's prelim was rescheduled. No date has yet been set for Gartland.

Grove was bound over to circuit court.
