GOGEBIC COUNTY -- One man was sent to the hospital after a crash involving a snowmobile and a vehicle on US-2 in Ironwood Township on Wednesday.

According to the Gogebic County Sheriff's Department, 57-year-old Terry Field was attempting to cross US-2 on his snowmobile when he was struck by a car travelling on US-2. Field was taken to Aspirus Grandview Hospital for a severe leg injury.

Authorities believe whiteout conditions and heavy snow contributed to the crash.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured during the crash.
