MARQUETTE -- A Marquette man is recovering after crashing his car early Monday morning.

The Marquette City Police Department was called to the area of Sugarloaf Avenue and Clark Street just before 5:30 a.m., after a passerby found the accident site.

Officers found 20-year-old Brandon Maki still in the vehicle. Police said it appears he failed to negotiate a curve, left the road and hit a tree.

Maki was treated for his injuries at Marquette General Hospital and then arrested on a charge of operating while intoxicated.

The case has been turned over to the county prosecutor's office.
