FORESTVILLE TRAILHEAD -- Before registration for the Noquemanon Ski Marathon got underway, the Junior Noque took place at the Forestville Trailhead.

The event offered racers high school age and younger the chance to compete. One-hundred-twenty-seven racers competed this year. Organizers say it's a great way to get the next generation of Noquemanon participants ready to race.

Competition aside, the event is a chance to appreciate the Upper Peninsula's (U.P.) many winter activities.

The Noquemanon Ski Marathon weekend is more about just being outside and enjoying the activities available here in the U.P. We have snow biking, we have snowshoeing, we have our amazing course, and we have skijouring," said Nicole Dewald, race coordinator.

Boys and girls had the option to race in 5k, 3k, and 1k events.
