SCHOOLCRAFT COUNTY -- In Schoolcraft County court on Thursday, a 22-year-old Manistique woman received word that she is going to prison.

Samantha Jo Jenerou was sentenced in Schoolcraft County Circuit Court for a string of burglary and larceny-related crimes.

Jenerou will spend three to six years behind bars on multiple counts of home invasion. She was given credit for 281 days already served in jail.

"This has been one of my most difficult times of my life," said Jenerou. "I pray everyday for forgiveness. I will use this time to reflect and establish positive goals for my life."

Jenerou's lawyer says that she's a girl struggling with mental illness, and she turned to drugs to calm her down.

The prosecutor told the judge that she chose to fuel her addiction by breaking into houses.
