CALUMET -- A Zumbathon was held Sunday afternoon to raise support for McHalie Walter and her family.  McHalie is a four-year-old from Hancock who was diagnosed with leukemia last fall.

The Zumbathon lasted from 12:30 until 4:30 at Calumet High School. There was also a bake sale and silent auction.

Mchalie's mother was a Zumba teacher in Houghton, which is why her friends chose to raise money doing Zumba.

"Well, Royale has given back to our community a ton by doing different Zumbathons for different community members as well as for Relay for Life, and I've had the opportunity to work with her on those Zumbathons, so it only seemed fit to do a Zumbathon for her and her family during this difficult time," said Zumba instructor, Adria Laplander.

McHalie and her family are currently in Ann Arbor as McHalie goes through treatments.
