ESCANABA -- Mark your calendars because Escanaba's sesquicentennial celebration will be held July 5 through July 13.
The event is an eight day celebration intended to bring together family, friends, and the community as the City of Escanaba turns 150 years old.
On Friday, at city hall, the first meeting was held with local media, hotel, and restaurant owners to give them an idea of how to get involved.
The festivities kick off July 5 with a sesquicentennial parade at 6:30 p.m. on Ludington Street. The majority of the events will be free, and everyone is invited to get involved.
"So, if anyone wants to help or has an inkling, an idea that they want to share with us, they can go to events at esky150.org," said Kay Johnson, event organizer.
There are already hundreds of people behind the scenes working on the celebration. The calendar of events wrap up with the Maritime Festival.
