The chilly winds of the U.P. left settlers and pioneers from the early days wishing for a summer breeze.

So how did they get warm in the freezing landscape?

The Marquette Regional History Center can show you how it was back then. The museum is having a "Warming Wintry Days of January" day from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. this Saturday, January 19.

Betsy Rutz, the Museum Educator, said, "We are doing events that would help people keep warm and active through the winter. Candle-dipping, rug weaving, spinning wool into yarn, and making Victorian valentines. So some fun hands-on events where people can observe and watch some demonstration but also take part themselves."

All of the activities are family friendly and are included with the cost of admission.

Admission is $7 for adults, $6 for seniors, $3 for students, and $2 for children 12 years old and under.
