MARQUETTE -- Twenty retirees interested in their family history are learning how to research historical records.

They started their day at the Northern Center for Lifelong Learning located on the campus of Northern Michigan University in Marquette.

Those in attendance were first given a quick lecture about the collections within the archives. They also had the opportunity to research their family history.

"I've been interested in my ancestry," said researcher Scott Stobbelaar. "I've been doing some work on that and I realize that the archives here have some resources that may be valuable to me. So I just want to learn to get to the resources and how to get to the information I want."

If you're interested in the event it will be offered again during the third week of May.
