ISHPEMING -- UPDATE Saturday January 5 2013, 10:15 a.m.

The water boil advisory that was put in place Thursday January 6 has been lifted as of 10 a.m. Saturday.  The affected area is Ready Street east of Seventh Street, all of Marquette Street and Lower Davis Street.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

A water boil advisory was issued on Thursday morning for some sections of the City of Ishpeming. The affected area is Ready Street east of Seventh Street, all of Marquette Street and Lower Davis Street.

The City of Ishpeming Department of Public Works repaired a water main leak overnight on Thursday on Marquette Street just south of Ready Street that caused reduced pressures on the water system in the affected area. The repairs have been completed, but a water boil advisory has been issued for city water utility customers in the affected area.

Those affected by this advisory are advised to boil any water intended for human consumption for several minutes prior to consumption. The advisory shall remain in effect for a minimum of 48 hours after restoration of water service or no later than noon on Saturday, January 5, unless extended by separate order.

Discolored water may be experienced for a period of time now that water has been restored. Water customers may need to flush their plumbing systems for several minutes to purge the discolored water from their system.

Any issues regarding prolonged loss of water pressure should be directed to the Department of Public Works at 486-9371.
