So far, this winter season has seen about 50" of snow, still keeping us about 20" below average. Saturday saw some fresh snow, but not much. We'll see more for New Year's Eve though.

Sunday will be a good deal clearer than recent days. Some lingering lake effect flurries are likely near Lake Superior, mainly in the Keweenaw, but they should end by early afternoon at the latest. Further from the lake, there should be more sunshine. Highs will be in the mid 20s.

Sunday night will see lows down into the 10s, coldest inland. Clouds will move in from the west late ahead of the incoming cold front. Some light snow is looking likely after midnight.

Monday will see some light scattered snow showers with the front, but this will primarily be a lake effect snow event. The northwest wind snow belts should receive a couple of inches. Highs will be in the 20s, but it will be much colder later.

Monday night's lows will fall mainly into the single digits. Anyone outside for the Marquette ball drop at midnight will need to dress warmly. Some light snow will continue overnight into Tuesday.

More lake effect snow is likely all of Tuesday. Wednesday will be colder, but will see less snow. Thursday will see the start of the next warming trend.
