MARQUETTE -- It's the season for giving, and the community has pulled together this year to help the Salvation Army give back to those in need. However, that support continues daily.

The Salvation Army received a generous donation from several unions at NMU. Representatives from five different unions, including the UAW 1950, UAW 2178, AFSCME 1094, NMUFA, and the AAUP were present to donate a check to the Salvation Army. Each union donated $250.

Representatives say they just want to give back to the community.

"It's a warm feeling to know that we're helping people that are less fortunate than us. There are some people that don't get to eat at night and don't get any presents for their kids, so we think it's really important to be able to give them some gifts for Christmas," said Tracy Vanabel.

The money will go to continue providing services for people in need who seek help at the Salvation Army.
