GLADSTONE -- St. Vincent de Paul in Gladstone is preparing their annual Christmas baskets that they'll send out this Saturday.  So far they've received 112 requests for a basket.

Monday, the pantry manager picked up over 4,000 pounds of food from the Gladstone High School and Cameron Elementary School.

The community has also been very generous in donating over $8,000 to help restock the pantry after the baskets go out.

"I believe it helps the people of the community tremendously, and I want to say for the community itself, when the bell was rung, the people came forward, and the people of the Gladstone area have been terrific," said pantry manager, Richard Kirchhofer.

The pantry also has 100 turkeys and canned hams that they'll include in the baskets.
