REPUBLIC -- A 40-year-old Republic man disregarded a stop sign and drove into the path of a northbound tractor trailer, according to police.

The Marquette County Sheriff's Office says the tractor trailer's fuel tank was damaged due to the crash, causing a leak of diesel fuel.

The tractor trailer was driven by a 64-year-old man from Ashland, Wisconsin. The accident happened on Sunday at 7 p.m on M-95 near River Road in Republic.

The driver of the pickup truck refused medical treatment and was cited for disregarding a stop sign.
