POWERS -- Members of the Sons of American Legion Post in Powers are inviting the public to visit Fazer's Foods and pick out a Christmas ornament that'll benefit the Hermansville Food Pantry.
A Christmas tree at the back of the store is decorated with five, ten, and twenty dollar "ornaments" that are bar-coded. Customers can pick one out and a donation automatically goes into a fund for the food pantry. This way, the pantry can pick out food items that they specifically need.
"Well, we encourage them to come to Fazer's and contribute what they can. There are many needy people in our community, and we also know that veterans use this food pantry." said Mike LaBonte of the American Legion.
Officials say food donations are a little lower this year than they were last year.
