MARQUETTE -- Seniors in Marquette celebrated the holidays Wednesday afternoon with their annual Christmas party.

They gathered with friends and family and enjoyed snacks and refreshments at the Marquette Senior Center.  They also saw a special performance from the "Red Hat Rosies."

Seniors joined in the singing as the group performed some well known Christmas songs.

"The holidays can be especially difficult for some of our elderly folks in our community. This is just a great way to bring people together to spread that joy and to encourage them to share with friends," said party organizer, Gail Herman.

Organizers were assisted by some of the staff from the city of Marquette.  They plan to hold the event next year as well.
