YPSILANTI (AP) -- Police say they're investigating the death of an Eastern Michigan University student at an off-campus apartment complex as an apparent homicide.

Ypsilanti police said in a statement that the body of 23-year-old Julia Catherine Niswender was found Tuesday night. Police say a cause of death hasn't been determined.

The Monroe school district says Niswender was a 2008 graduate of Monroe High School in southeastern Michigan.

Eastern Michigan University sent out an alert early Wednesday about the death. Campus police are working with city police on the case.

No suspect information was immediately released. Police are seeking tips from the public.
