Latest news, weather, high school sports for Michigan’s Upper Peninsula

Nick Baumgartner demonstrated his world class snowboarding prowess this past Friday in Montafon, Austria by locking up a third place finish in the season opener of this year’s FIS Snowboard World Cup. 

The Iron River native captured the bronze medal podium finish in a field of 106 riders representing 28 countries. Baumgartner was also honored at the Traxxas Torc Series Awards Banquet by being named the 2012 Pro Rookie of the year.
