MARQUETTE -- Thursday night's cold temperatures didn't keep crowds away from Marquette's holiday parade.

Floats were aplenty as people lined Third Street.  The parade featured everything from a concrete mixer decked out in holiday lights to a hand bell ringing choir.  And Santa Claus and his sled even made an appearance.

The parade ended at the Marquette Commons.  Once at the Commons, people gathered around for the 37th annual lighting of the Christmas tree. Mayor John DePetro was on hand as well as Santa Claus.

A number of activities were set up at the Commons as the Marquette Redmen Choral sang Christmas carols while children got to ride ponies.

Cider and doughnuts were also there to help residents officially welcome the Christmas season to Marquette.
