MARQUETTE -- The 2012-2013 ski season is almost here, and Marquette Mountain is getting ready for skiers to arrive this Friday.

A warmer than average November had staff at the mountain a little concerned, but conditions are shaping up nicely now. Snow machines have been running for five days in preparation for Friday's opening.

Management at Marquette Mountain said there's plenty to look forward to this season.

"We've got a real nice cold spell and we're going to be open this Friday, November 30, which is about five days earlier than last year," said manager Vern Barber. "I'm hoping we get a few more powder blasts like we did last year, I'll really be smiling then, it should be a fun year."

Pre-season hours are Thursday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. After December 19 regular hours will be in effect.
