MUNISING -- The 30th Anniversary of the TV6 Canathon is underway in Alger County and the Munising News newspaper need your help.  They're asking for you to stop by and donate canned goods or non-perishable food items.  They've been participating in this for several years.

All the donations will go to stock the shelves of their local St. Vincent de Paul Society.

"Alger County is very giving; there's a lot of causes for this small population.  People always come out to give more than their fair share.  It makes you feel good to be a part of this," said Willie Peterson from the Munising News.

"This helps a lot, especially during the holidays.  I mean there's so many people out of work, so many people with their jobs cut--they need food and they need it bad," said Gerry Franz of St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Last year they collected 2,000 pounds of food, and they're looking to beat that amount this year.

They hope to have the storage room filled with donations.
