HARVEY -- As hunting season continues, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources is reminding hunters they can help feed those in need with their successful hunt.

Sportsmen Against Hunger is a program where participating butcher shops will process your deer at no cost and pass it on to local food pantries.

"If you're having a really successful season, you might end up with more venison than what you can fit in your freezer or that you can consume yourself in a year, so one program that we really like to tell people about is Sportsmen Against Hunger," said Debbie Munson Badini of the DNR.

Northern Meats in Ishpeming is one of the shops participating in the Sportsmen Against Hunger program. For a complete list of shops, check out this link.
