As some scattered snow showers exit eastward with a small low pressure system, look for lake effect snow to kick up once again in the afternoon under a northwest wind. The system-related snow has already dropped 2" or more for several locations. Here are some reports from Sunday morning.

Sunday's highs will be a little warmer than Saturday, mainly in the low 30s, but it will quickly cool down again as winds shift out of the northwest. Skies will be overcast near the lake and partly cloudy in the southern UP.

The NWS has issued Lake Effect Snow Warnings for Alger and northern Schoolcraft counties valid from 5 pm Sunday to 10 pm Monday. Through Monday, these areas could see a total of 8" to 12".

The NWS has also issued Lake Effect Snow Advisories for Gogebic, Ontonagon, and northern Houghton counties from 5 pm Sunday to 10 am Monday. There is also an advisory for Luce County from 5 pm Sunday to 10 pm Monday. These areas could see up to 8" total through Monday, highest amounts in the higher terrains and nearest to Lake Superior.

Conditions will also be a bit breezy for Sunday night, meaning that blowing snow and wind chill factors are a concern. Sunday night's lows will be around 20, coldest in the 10s inland.

On Monday, the main issue is persistent lake effect snow for the northwest wind snowbelts that will last all day. Otherwise, conditions will be clearer away from the lake. Highs will be in the 20s.

Monday night will see a high pressure system come from the west and clear away lake effect snow with a shift in the winds from the southwest. Some snow may linger overnight into early Tuesday. Lows will fall into the 10s.

Under a southwest wind, it will warm up briefly for Tuesday to around 30. Look for a little more scattered snow later on Tuesday and possibly Wednesday. As of Sunday, the next weekend is looking significantly warmer with highs that could reach back into the 40s.

Join me tonight after the football game for an updated snow forecast. I'll also be posting more information on my Facebook page. I would love to see any snow pictures if you have them!
