NEGAUNEE -- Thursday, the public had a chance to celebrate Thanksgiving day the Vegan way.

Northern Vegans hosted their sixth annual Thanksgiving Vegan potluck dinner at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Negaunee.

All dishes were made from non-animal products.  Everything from conventional mashed potatoes to the unconventional tofurkey were served.

The event began as a small gathering six years ago and has grown ever since.

"So essentially people bring a dish, a vegan dish, to pass.  We always, as a core group, we try and bring a little extra stuff to some of the basics, but it's a pot luck or people, if they just want to try vegan food on Thanksgiving, can give five dollars to the group and sample anything they want," said Jeff Plummer of the Northern Vegans.

If you missed out this year, organizers say they plan on having the event again next year.
