ESCANABA -- The TV6 Canathon's goal is to fill local food pantry shelves.  The Salvation Army in Escanaba is joining TV6 once again.  Unlike other U.P. pantries, their food pantry is actually full.  That's because of a recent call to action they made to the community.

Still, Major Ralph Hansen says the county is seeing a three percent increase in the need.  That's why they're gearing up for the Canathon to raise awareness and to collect food for the needy.

"We'll be out, of course, at Elmer's in Escanaba on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday before Thanksgiving, the 19, 20, and 21st, 9 in the morning till 6 o'clock at night. And we'll be collecting canned goods at that time," said Hansen.

There are about three to four thousand pounds of food in their pantry, but it tends to go quickly, so they're always looking for donations.
