ISHPEMING TOWNSHIP -- Students at Aspen Ridge Elementary in Ishpeming Township were showing their support for America's veterans on Monday.

The school held a program honoring veterans with music from both the band and choir. The Vietnam Veterans Chapter 380 served as the color guard.

Guest speaker, Captain Jason Rolling, spoke to the students about his experiences as a veteran.

"We're hoping that our students have the opportunity to learn a little bit more about Veterans Day, meet real life veterans, hear their stories, meet them and understand and give thanks for everything that we have," said Aspen Ridge Principal Linda Ludwig.

The school's choir performed the Song for the Unsung Hero. Students later observed a moment of silence for the fallen veterans. After the ceremony, the school held a reception for the military personnel in attendance.
