MARQUETTE -- More than 600 high schoolers and their families traveled to Northern Michigan University Saturday. It was for Wildcat Weekend, giving prospective students an up close look at the university.

The Hedgcock building was packed with tables offering information on many student services, like housing and financial aid.

NMU invites prospective students from all across the country. All who attended were given free tickets to NMU's football game.

"Everybody seems to be in a really good mood," said Christina Carr, Assistant Director of Admissions at NMU. "They're enjoying their stay. A lot of families just go, 'Wow! This facility is a lot better than I thought it would be. I didn't expect to see so much. The professors were friendly and great.' So overall, we've had a really great day today."

The next Wildcat Weekend will be in March.
