MARQUETTE COUNTY -- The United Steelworkers have ratified a new three-year labor contract.  Cliffs Natural Resources and the union reached the tentative agreement last month.

The new contract will cover about 2,400 workers at Cliffs' Empire and Tilden mines and its United Taconite and Hibbing Taconite mines in Minnesota.

The deal includes a 4.5 percent wage increase and a $4,250 bonus through the term of the agreement.  Union officials say the contract also preserves current health care for active members and retirees.
