MARQUETTE -- Hundreds of people made their way to the Lakeview Arena in Marquette Saturday to check out an annual Ski Swap.

The consignment sale is the biggest fundraiser for the Marquette Mountain Racing Team.

Items up for sale ranged from skis to ski jackets.

Organizers say the swap offers newcomers to the sport an opportunity to get gear at an affordable price.

"We've expanded our collection to include hockey equipment over the last couple of years as well. But it's gently-used equipment that people can afford to get into the sport for a relatively low price," said Dwight Johnson, organizer.

The funds raised Saturday will go towards new equipment and coach fees for the team.

The racing team hopes to hit the slopes by the beginning of December.
