MARQUETTE COUNTY -- The candidates are Republican Bob Struck, a former Marquette County Commissioner for three terms from 2005 to 2010, and incumbent Democrat Deborah Pellow, a county commissioner for four terms and current Marquette County board chairwoman.

Struck is the executive director of UPEMS in Marquette and Pellow is the director of the Ishpeming Wastewater Treatment Facility.

"We need to stop the state from eroding local tax dollars and stop passing laws that mandate us to provide services they're not willing to fund," said District 5 candidate Deborah Pellow.

"You don't accomplish anything with arguments. You make things happen by working with people and finding some common ground. I've done that and hope I can be elected to do that some more," said District 5 candidate Bob Struck.

Following the election, the Marquette County Board is going from nine commissioners down to six.
