Father Marquette statue vandalized

MARQUETTE -- The Marquette City Police Department has reported that the Father Marquette statue located on Front Street in Marquette was vandalized with red paint.

Police said that the Father Marquette statue had been painted on the face and chest area. They believe the crime happened between October 30 and 31.

The Marquette Beautification Committee is offering a $500 reward for any information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for the damage. If you have any information on this act of vandalism, contact the Marquette Police Department at (906) 228-0400.
