MARQUETTE -- The sound of bells rang through the Marquette Commons Thursday at noon.

For the third year in a row, Marquette County residents honored their friends and family members who have passed away in hospice care.  It's all in celebration of National Hospice Month which was being recognized by Upper Peninsula Home Health and Hospice and Lake Superior Hospice.  The group rang their bells outside to the song "Amazing Grace."

"Both the goals from the Home Health Hospice and Lake Superior Hospice is just indeed to get people to understand the benefits of hospice.  That it's just not for the patient, but support for the families, and the support goes 13 months beyond when that patient does pass," said event organizer, Lindsay Hemmila.

After the bell ringing, the group got together for a reception inside the Commons.
