ONTONAGON -- Ten-year-old Anna Wiseman always has a smile on her face.

"She's always been bigger-hearted, smarter, more outgoing than anybody I've ever met and tougher than anybody I've ever met," said Noah Arble, Anna's dad.

When Anna was born, she was diagnosed with Osteogenesis Imperfecta, also known as brittle bone disease.

"She has had probably 300 fractures so far in her lifetime. Her bones are very, very brittle. She goes to Chicago for experimental treatments; right now we go every four months," said Angie Arble, Anna's mom.

But Anna doesn't let her condition define her. She wants an all-terrain wheelchair, which costs around $12,000, so she can spend more time outside.

"I can't go outside and play in the snow with my sister or I can't really go through the grass as well if it's taller," said Anna Wiseman.

Anna's school in Ontonagon has been very instrumental in helping her get an outdoor wheelchair.

School success worker Kirsten Menigoz is in charge of the fundraising event, and she says Anna deserves a new wheelchair.

"She is seriously like an angel in our school. Never complains, always a smile on her face and probably her entire life hasn't known a day without pain, but you would never know it for one minute when you meet Anna," said Menigoz.

A spaghetti dinner to help raise money for Anna's new wheelchair will be held Sunday, October 28, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Konteka in White Pine. The cost is $10 for adults, $5 for kids and $20 for a family of four.

An account has also been set up for Anna at Lake Superior Credit Union (906) 884-2069 in Ontonagon. You can also click here if you're interested in donating.
