MARQUETTE -- Thursday night at the Peter White Public Library, voters can get to know the candidates for Congress and State Representative. The Upper Peninsula Children's Coalition is hosting a candidate forum.

Ten candidates have been invited, including Dan Benishek and Gary McDowell, as well as Marquette Mayor John Kivela and Jack Hubbard. They will be asked questions that affect children and families in the U.P. Issues like education and poverty will be at the forefront.

"When we watch the ads on television, it is a particular sound bite, and you don't know who paid for the ad, so here you have the candidates speaking for themselves, directly on issues that make a difference and are important to you," said Karlyn Rapport, co-chair of the UPCC Candidate Forum.

The forum will be in the community room of the Peter White Public Library. It starts at 7 p.m. sharp. Those who plan on attending are asked to arrive early.
