ESCANABA -- More than 100 people in Escanaba turned out for the fourth annual UPtoberfest.
Just over a dozen vendors from around the Upper Peninsula and northern Lower Michigan served up 75 different flavors of beer and wine. The event was originally organized by the United Way, but the Bay de Noc brewers stepped in to help organize the fundraiser.
"Bay de Noc brewers, our home group club, stepped in and said, hey, let's help you guys make this a much better event," said Josh Merenger, a coordinator. "'We'll do all of the work, and we'll write you a check at the end of it. It's a win, win. The event is better, we raise more money for them, and it's a pretty successful event."
Organizers hope to raise over $3,000 for the United Way.
