NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP -- Motorists and residents in Negaunee Township might have noticed a helicopter in the skies on Friday near the Michigan State Police Post.

Shortly before noon, a helicopter landed on the lawn in front of the MSP post along US-41. The helicopter was carrying state police officials to the Upper Peninsula so they could visit the post and attend Friday's funeral services for Christopher "Bubba" Croley.

The 13-year-old Ishpeming boy was killed last Friday night in a drunk driving accident in Wisconsin. His father, Christopher Croley, Sr. works for the Michigan State Police.

The chopper came back around 2:30 p.m. to pick up the officials from the old Marquette County Airport.
