NEGAUNEE -- Hudson Mechanical is helping to keep Wisconsin and Upper Michigan warm this winter with a program called Heat Up Wisconsin.

In the fall, they award one needy family in each county with a brand new Lennox furnace. Negaunee resident Ed Symons is this year's Marquette County recipient. His old furnace was 26 years old, and he and his wife, Diane, have had problems paying heating costs since Ed was placed on disability.

"We donate our time and our labor to put it in, so it's a win-win for everybody and it's a way to give back to the community, and Ed and his wife are going to be warm this year," said Richard Hudson of Hudson Mechanical.

Organizers say that the program is growing. Last year Lennox dealers installed 76 furnaces. This year that number is up to 100 across Wisconsin and Upper Michigan.
