ESCANABA -- A 33-year-old Gladstone man who crashed a stolen vehicle into the Gladstone Public Safety Department in early August appeared in Delta County Circuit Court Wednesday on five charges.

Robert John Anderson is charged with malicious destruction of property, stealing a vehicle, possession of a controlled substance, assault of a public safety officer and driving under the influence of drugs.

Anderson pled no contest to four of the five counts.  The malicious destruction of property charge will be dismissed after sentencing.

Among other fines, he will have to pay more than $1,000 to fix the garage door at the public safety department.

Anderson is being held in the Delta County Jail on a $10,000 cash bond.  His sentencing is scheduled for November 19.
