CALUMET -- Dozens of residents in the Copper Country took to the streets for charity this weekend.

Saint Vincent de Paul held its annual Walk for the Poor fundraiser on Saturday at Agassiz Park in Calumet. The walk, which goes through downtown Calumet, is the biggest fundraiser for the charity. Over 30 walkers signed up for the event, and organizers say it helps spread their message to the community.

"It's also an informational fair to let people know who we are and we're out there to help you if possible, and encourage other people to get involved," said Julie Kent, of St. Vincent de Paul.

The Main Street Calumet organization helped Saint Vincent de Paul organize the walk. The charity group hopes to raise over $3,000 from the event.
